Calling cards are designed to allow a
person to make calls without requiring cash and, often to
provide a a discounted phone charge
There are two types of calling cards. One
card is a physical card, similar in size to a credit card.
They are physically inserted into a public telephones to make
calls. They can ONLY be used in special card-phones. This site
does not look at these as they are very limited in use, plus
they are never cheap.
The other type of card works by a
customer dialling a special 'access' telephone number. They
enter a unique PIN number which is programmed with credit.
These cards can be used from every type of telephone.
Sometimes the PIN number is printed onto a physical card and
is sold in a shop. Other cards may merely be a PIN number
which is emailed to customers with instructions.
Most calling cards are pre-paid whereby
you buy credit before using them. When this credit expires the
customer can either buy a new card or recharge their existing
account.
